The Prague Spring International Music Festival, founded in 1946, showcases talented performing artists, orchestras, and chamber music ensembles from around the world. The festival commemorates important musical anniversaries and presents Czech as wells as world premieres of compositions by contemporary artists. Prague Spring's traditional venue is the Rudolfinum concert hall. Since 1952, the festival has opened on May 12, the anniversary of the death of Bedřich Smetana.
