Concert: Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir

The Prague Philharmonic Children’s Choir, one of the most prestigious choirs in the Czech Republic, performs a special selection of Czech and international classics in celebration of 100 years of Czech independence at the Washington National Cathedral on October 30, 2018, at 7:30 pm. The touring choir, ranging in age from 12-18, has performed throughout the world and brings exceptional young talent to the heart of Washington. Among the choir's greatest achievements are appearances at La Scala (Milan), Carnegie Hall (New York), Tchaikovsky Hall (Moscow). The choir will feature such beloved songs as Dvořák’s Ave Maria, Schubert's Psalm XXII, and Bernstein's Gloria Tibi. Share in an evening of angelic voices in tribute to the centennial.

About the Choir:
About the Choir: The Prague Philharmonic Children’s Choir (known as Kuhnata in Czech), was founded in 1932 by Jan Kühn, a distinguished singer, director and choirmaster. The choir is now one of the most significant Czech artistic collectives, known throughout the world. The choir has performed in Japan, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Its most talented children have grown into distinguished musicians – conductors, directors, composers, singers and instrumentalists. The choir's outstanding reputation is evident by the numerous awards and official honors it has won, including the European Grand Prix in 1998. The Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir has also emerged victorious in a number of international choir competitions (Paris, Princeton, Wuppertal, Tolosa, Arezzo) including a world record three wins at the prestigious competition at Tolos in Spain. During its existence, the choir has recorded over 50 CDs of both Czech and international music.
