About the Festival

The Mutual Inspirations Festival (MIF) is an annual initiative spearheaded by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, focusing on the mutual inspirations between Czech and American cultures and featuring each year an extraordinary Czech personality who has greatly influenced and inspired others through his or her work.

As we all aspire for continuity after the upheaval of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Embassy of the Czech Republic hopes to once again bring a glimmer of normalcy via its public programming.

Respecting the current times, I am proud that we have chosen the very fitting personality of Věra Čáslavská, known worldwide as a decorated Olympian, to be the torchbearer for our annual Mutual Inspirations Festival. For the twelfth year in a row, the festival will focus on the mutual inspirations between Czech and American cultures and, in promotion of everyone’s good health and fitness, the legacy of a woman who we can all be inspired by.

As we explore fitness and sports diplomacy this fall, I hope that you join us in bringing back appealing programs to both children and adults via a variety of channels, especially in person, to the Washington area and beyond.
