Film Showcases Hope and Friendship

On September 10, 2025, the Embassy of the Czech Republic welcomed audiences to the Avalon Theatre for a memorable screening of Sea of Hope (Moře na dvoře), a dramatic comedy by director Martin Horský, presented as part of the ongoing Lions of Czech Film Series, which brings outstanding contemporary Czech cinema to the Washington, DC community.

The film charmed viewers with its tender, quietly poetic story of Josef, a gifted violin maker whose life is shaped by music, friendship, and the courage to pursue long-deferred dreams. Anchored by heartfelt performances, the cast featured Ondřej Vetchý, Linda Rybová, Sara Sandeva, and Jiří Langmajer, who was born in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic), adding a special regional connection to the evening.
