On May 10, the Embassy of the Czech Republic welcomed thousands of visitors as part of EU Open House 2025, for a full day of history, culture, music, and community. This year’s program marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, highlighting the liberation of the Pilsen region by U.S. forces. Visitors explored this pivotal moment in history through authentic wartime broadcast recordings, period jeeps and military tents, and even an interactive video game dedicated to the Czech resistance.
Throughout the day, guests enjoyed live performances by members of the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra and The Praguematics, dynamic presentations by Sokol Washington, DC and Slavic American Sokol, engaging performances by the Comenium Czech & Slovak School, and popular Rockville City Police K-9 demonstrations that delighted audiences of all ages. From parachute-inspired fashion and exhibitions to Czech cuisine and the world’s original lager-style Pilsner beer, the Embassy was alive with energy from morning to afternoon.
We are deeply grateful to all of our performers, partners, volunteers, and visitors for making this day such a meaningful celebration of shared history. Thank you for celebrating with us! We look forward to welcoming you again soon!
