What an enchanting evening at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, filled with laughter, wonder, and imagination as children arrived in their delightful costumes! The night opened with welcoming remarks by Embassy Public Diplomacy Representative Andrea Pohl, who introduced families to the rich world of Czech folklore and the legendary characters that inspired the event.
Guests then embarked on a magical forest trail where Czech myths came to life at every turn—from the chilling Headless Knight and icy Lady Frostbite to the mischievous Forest Demon and the eerie Noonday Witch. Among the most memorable encounters was Radouš, a legendary figure from the Pilsen Region: a tragic, half-boy creature with donkey ears, said to haunt the ruins of Radyně Castle near Plzeň, guarding its hidden treasure to this day.
Children (and brave parents!) explored these age-old tales while delighting in hands-on, bubbling science experiments led by the ever-entertaining Professor Fungi (Thom) from the Science Guys of Baltimore, blending folklore with curiosity and discovery.
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for this whimsical evening celebrating stories, science, and imagination!
