POSTPONED - Piano Recital: David Kalhous

The Embassy of the Czech Republic invites you to a classical recital, featuring internationally recognized pianist David Kalhous, on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 6 pm. Kalhous will perform a program including: Janáček's On an Overgrown Path, Beethoven's Six Variations in F Major, Scarlatti's Sonata in D minor, Chopin's Nocturne in C-sharp minor, among other works. Join us for an evening under the stars at the Czech Embassy listening to masterpieces of the ages. Dress warmly!
 

ABOUT THE PIANIST: David Kalhous gained critical acclaim in the United States and Europe for his wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous programming spanning over three centuries. As a soloist, he has performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Prague Philharmonia, Israel Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. As a recitalist and chamber musician, he performed at the Prague Spring Festival, Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Czech Philharmonic Chamber Music Series, among others. Kalhous regularly performs, lectures, and teaches masterclasses. He has recorded for Czech Radio and Television, and has written, produced, and hosted programs for Prague’s Classic FM Radio. Kalhous studied at the Prague Conservatory, the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, Rubin Academy of Music at Tel-Aviv University, and Yale University. He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Northwestern University.

The event is part of the Mutual Inspirations Festival 2020 - John Amos Comenius, inspiring new works, interpretations and perspectives.

Seating capacity will be limited to 50, according to CDC guidelines. If you find that you will not be able to attend the event, please cancel your reservation asap.

ATTIRE: Please dress for the weather as this event will be outside. Flat shoes are recommended for the grassy area. 

You must wear a mask. No large bags allowed. Small purses checked at security. RSVP confirmation and photo ID required.
