Book Talk: The Investigator - Demons of the Balkan War

Retired Czech Commissioner Vladimír Dzuro presents his book The Investigator - Demons of the Balkan War at the Embassy of the Czech Republic on September 19, at 6 pm. The book is a fascinating story  of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and how investigators brought to justice some of the worst war criminals of the 20th century. Join us for an intriguing evening as Dzuro shares with us his personal account of investigating war crimes and uncovering the truth. 
 

BIOGRAPHY:
Vladimír Dzuro, Commissioner ret. was born in the Czech Republic. Between 1983 and 1995, he worked as a criminal detective initially with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Prague investigating violent crime and later at the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol in Prague.
 
In 1994, he actively participated in the work of the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) in the former Yugoslavia.  In April 1995, he began a ten-year stint as an investigator with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. Vladimir currently works as Chief of New York Headquarters Office at the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services.
 
The Registrar of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia awarded Vladimir, for his many years of successful work for the international justice, the International Justice Medal. The Czech Minister of Defense awarded him the highest decoration for non-military person, the Golden Linden. The Czech Police President present to Vladimir the Czech Police Force Plaque and a Medal of Honor for his continuing contribution to internationally promoting the reputation of the Police Force of the Czech Republic.
